About Us
Both Donald and Jake have heard hundreds of times, “You guys are Dinosaurs, nobody does it that way anymore.” They don’t show up in tasseled loafers or crisply creased shirts and trousers. Donald and Jake arrive as consumer advocates ready to climb, crawl and worm their way into places that most inspectors call inaccessible. A frequent term heard while doing their work is, “God Love Ya,” for taking the time and extra effort to find what is lurking behind, over and under. They are competitors in business who share an uncommon bond of being curious and having a mindset to tell it like it is. On rare occasions, if you’re lucky, you might get a bit of humor thrown in for good measure.
Donald Lovering

Donald Lovering has been inspecting buildings since 1981. As the former President of the New England Chapter of the American Society of Home Inspectors and the former national Membership Chairman for the American Society of Home Inspectors, Donald continues to play an active role in the Home Inspector community. Currently, Donald is the treasurer for the National Home Inspector Examination Board which is the only recognized psychometrically valid entry level home inspector examination in the country.
Mindful of a responsibility to the community, Donald worked for the Community Development Corporation on Cape Cod to assist and help improve the living conditions for low income families for over 7 years. Donald has been internationally published 3 times and has been a speaker at national conferences and regional conferences for home inspectors. He is a recognized expert by 24 states and an approved education provider by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Home Inspector Board. His broad range of experience in both home and commercial building inspection has brought him into the expert witness arena where he has testified as an expert in multiple jurisdictions and several states. Donald’s observations have also been used by the Massachusetts Office of Prosecution for home inspector cases. Donald is clearly an old school Dinosaur Inspector.
Jake Zagata
Jake Zagata has been inspecting commercial and residential buildings since 1974 . Here’s Jake Zagata high on the roof. Jake is a former Building Code Official in New York and Massachusetts. Jake has been a teacher of home inspectors on methods and practice along with building code issues. Jake was also the treasurer of the New England Chapter of the American Society of Home Inspectors. With his level of skill and expertise, Jake has mentored more than a few home inspectors in his 30 plus years of inspecting. Jake knows there is always more to learn and still attends classes to sharpen his skills, providing clients with the latest and best information available. His philosophy is, “You can never have too much information about anything.” Jake is also committed to giving back to his community, and spends time volunteering for Local Heroes, a non-profit group which raises food, supplies and the morale of troops overseas as well as providing a network of support for families of deployed troops. He has spent many a night packing boxes after a full day of inspecting. Jakes dedication to home inspection, his hours and hours of continued education, coupled with his, “we’ll find out” attitude sets Jake apart.
